Three reasons YOU should learn to knit:

1. Knitting is the most important meal of the day!

2. Knitting advocates animal testing!

3. Knitting supports science fiction!

For a lot of people, winter calls for  streaming illegal television on your laptop while in bed ice skating, hot chocolate and reading by the fire.

For me, winter means whiskey and knitting. Here I am on a crazy friday night!

Please Mr. Wizard, Can I Have A Brain?

February 9, 2010

In grade six, I was in The Wizard of Oz. I played Tornado #2 and Emerald City member #12.  Oh, the glory days.

Almost twelve years later, I’ve been cast as Scarecrow. (I’m not talking about The Wizard of Oz anymore.) I’ll be performing in Woman and Scarecrow by Marina Carr at the end of April. According to WikiAnswers, Scarecrow is either an extension of Woman’s “soul” or some manifestation of a guardian angel.

Which costume do you think is most appropriate?

Yeah, neither. I just think it is funny that people buy costumes like these.

I kind of envision the character wearing a negligee, smoking with a cigarette holder, and downing endless glasses of ginger ale from champagne glasses (like they did in Woody Allen’s The Purple Rose of Cairo). I don’t really think I’ll get to do this, unfortunately.  And only time will tell if “doing the acting thing” was a straw-brained decision.

Love actually is all around? Here is new evidence:

Photo courtesy of the Montreal Planetarium.  These heart-shaped “geological features” measure a few 100 meters in diameter and can be found on Mars! I think they are neat. Does life love exist on other planets?  This will be my only allusion to Valentine’s Day.

I was sick last week and rented two (!) movies starring Cher. And she was great.

I think we should all take a moment to appreciate Cher.  For as long as I’ve really known who she is, she’s just been the butt of jokes on account of her looking like a tranny, but in her heyday, she was a babe and a good actress. Moonstruck was a revelation. Mermaids was pretty good too.
